It's finally Halloween weekend! During the week leading up to the holiday, I always find myself rewatching some of the same comforting movies and shows. Here's the top five list of some of my all-time favorites. (None of these are ranked in any specific order).
American Horror Story: Coven

Part of me thought that I was going to add Murder House to my list, but here we are. While I will always suggest that you watch the entire American Horror Story anthology, I'll be biased to recommend Coven first. It has some of the best character arcs and an attention-grabbing storyline. Plus, the best part is, Stevie Nicks is a part of it all as well. The full series is streaming on Hulu.

2. Monster House

Monster House is one of the movies that has stuck with me from my childhood and is most likely the reason that I'm still obsessed with the paranormal and haunted houses to this day. Sure, the animation might be creepy (it's honestly comparable to The Polar Express, but I love that one as well, though I do understand if you feel strongly about the creepy animation) but the storyline is still so interesting and the movie holds a special place in my heart. It is streaming on Amazon Prime Video, The Roku Channel, and Hulu.

3. Black Mirror: Bandersnatch

A bit different from the original show, Black Mirror: Bandersnatch is the perfect psychological thriller to play during the spooky season. It's also great that it is one of Netflix's interactive movies, so it makes it more fun to watch as a group and choose different paths as you all watch the movie. On top of it all, it has a great cast, just like Black Mirror tends to have, so kudos to the casting director(s). Bandersnatch is streaming on Netflix.

4. The Haunting of Hill House

Yet another haunted house story, but this time around it's a bit darker. This mini-series follows the Crain family and their experience in Hill House, which is based on the original story by Shirley Jackson. If you're a fan of past and present storytelling, then this show is definitely for you. Since I'm a fan of this method, I find it very entertaining to follow and I believe it makes the show that much more suspenseful. Its counterpart, (which I sadly have not watched yet) The Haunting of Bly Manor, is streaming on Netflix as well.

5. Stranger Things

Last, but certainly not least: Stranger Things. But, as the photo suggests, Stranger Things 2. This season, besides the first and the most recent, Stranger Things 4, has a darker feeling than the others. Plus, we see the kids going out and celebrating Halloween, which gets me in the mood. I always find myself watching earlier seasons, but who knows; maybe I'll surprise myself this weekend and put myself through the last episode of season 4 again. Stranger Things is streaming on Netflix.

I'm always curious to see other people's Halloween favorites, so let me know what yours are! Have a safe, happy, and fun Halloween! <3
