Our favorite found family from space is back for a very anticipated third season. (Please note: this review will contain spoilers. May the Force be with you.)

To start, I would like to thank The Mandalorian and the creators for pulling me out of my writer's funk and forcing me to return to blog writing.

I have to say, the feeling I had when hearing the intro again was completely indescribable. Before the familiar score was played, we were able to see into a more traditional ceremony of the Mandalorians; which included some both young and old. This was a detail I found most interesting, and really hope we can see more of Din's backstory in this season. I watched no trailers going into this, so I have no expectations; except where we were left off after the second season.

Yes, Mando has removed his helmet and is trying to seek forgiveness for this mistake; which is where I feel most of this season will be leading us. Of course, there will be handfuls of side quests to go along with it (which make the episodes all the better) and hopefully some more cameos like previous seasons.

As expected, this pilot episode is setting up more plot points for the other episodes, so we see more familiar faces than new ones. Mando and Grogu journey back to Nevarro, which has changed drastically since the previous seasons, but the friend remaining there has not. We learn about the whereabouts of Moff Gideon, which makes me hopeful that he will return at some point as well.

We also come across a new antagonist, Pirate King Gorian Shard, who has already posed as a threat to our protagonist, and will most likely come back in a few episodes (I hope he does; I'm excited for this arc).

The episode ends with Mando and Grogu landing outside of a Mandalorian castle; a set that we have no yet seen in the course of this show. Inside, he talked business with a familiar face (I won't spoil that, I feel like I've said enough already) which left us all up to interpretation. What will Mando find next, and is Mandalore truly cursed like everyone says?

Some last thoughts I wanted to mention. First, I do believe that space westerns projects could be on the rise, and this season could prove that theory right or wrong. Additionally, I hope that with Pedro Pascal's growing popularity in HBO's show, The Last of Us, that more fans will be joining us on this journey. The more the merrier is the case with shows like this that are so easy and enjoyable to talk about and watch together. Everyone say thank you Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni.

The Mandalorian will continue to stream every Wednesday on Disney+ until Episode 24, the finale, which airs on April 19th. I will be back at the end of it all to do a "Ranked Review" of all the episodes. I'm dreading that day already; I have a lot of faith for this season.

(A note: I would like to add that no, I still haven't done a ranked review for this season and it's been months since I published this article. Once Ahsoka is over, I'll do a rewatch and finish what I started)

This Is the Way.

Do you think you could be a Mandalorian?

  • 0%Absolutely. Yes. (And I'd never take off my helmet.)

  • 0%I thought about it...I'd rather be a Jedi.

  • 0%I need freedom--like bounty hunters.

  • 0%None of the above. I want to be a droid.
