Inspired by the phenomenon that originated in Welsh culture ("deep longing for something, especially one's home"), I wrote this short poem one night on my porch.

To long for some material thing

—a physical place perhaps—

Makes logical sense, yes?

Imagine trying to find a feeling

That you have not had the chance to feel

You almost had it in your hand

Much like the climax of a song

Only to hear it fall down after the chorus

As soon as it had climbed up

You have been defeated again

With no end in sight

And despite the bruised knees

And the scraped arms

You feel the need to keep

Crawling

To find the taste

Of that feeling

You have always longed for
