Apocalypse

A violent tidal wave

Came crashing in

Out of nowhere, it seemed

Winds destroyed the town

And homes built within

But there we were

Your arms engulfing me

Tightly

So close, I forgot about

The storm around us

The catastrophe

In that split second

I only felt you

And I could hear

The reassurance

Rolling off of your lips

Even with the thunder

And the lightning

You never let me go

I should thank you

For that

For the first time

In a long time

I felt protected

I felt heard

And I was understood

Yet I’ll never forgive

The rift you caused—

The apocalypse.
